70-year-old singer Laima Vaikule‘s concerts in Western Europe have been cancelled, journalist Alena Zhigalova reported.
“Multilingual skills did not help Laima Vaikule: all her concerts in Germany scheduled for December were canceled without explanation,” she wrote in her Telegram channel “Alena, Damn!”
To confirm her words, Zhigalova published a screenshot of the poster, which indicated that the artist’s concerts scheduled for December 9, 10 and 12 in Berlin, Bremen and Offenbach had been cancelled.
Information about the cancellation of Vaikule’s concerts also appeared on a specialized website Kontramarka.de.
It was previously reported that Laima Vaikule’s concert on the Spanish island of Tenerife did not take place due to the fact that the organizers failed to sell even half of the tickets. The artist hoped for the interest of Russian-speaking viewers.

How can individuals and communities mitigate the negative effects of technology while embracing its benefits?
Title: Navigating the Future: An Interview on the Impact of Technological Advances on Society
Setting: A bright, modern office space at Time.news headquarters, filled with plants and cozy seating.
Participants:
- Editor: Rachel Martinez, Editor-in-Chief of Time.news
- Expert: Dr. Alex Rivera, Technology Futurist and Professor of Digital Ethics at the University of Tech.
Rachel Martinez: Welcome, Dr. Rivera! It’s a pleasure to have you here today to discuss the fascinating yet intricate relationship between technology and society.
Dr. Alex Rivera: Thank you, Rachel! I’m excited to be here and share insights on such a pivotal topic.
Rachel Martinez: Let’s dive in. The recent article released on November 27 highlighted various technological advancements and their societal impacts. One major point was the duality of technology as both a tool for progress and a potential source of divisiveness. What’s your take on this?
Dr. Alex Rivera: Absolutely, Rachel. Technology is indeed a double-edged sword. On one side, it enhances communication, accessibility, and innovation. For instance, social media platforms have become essential tools for activism and community building. However, they also exacerbate issues like misinformation and polarization. The challenge lies in harnessing the positive while mitigating the negative effects.
Rachel Martinez: Speaking of social media, the article addressed how algorithms can create echo chambers. Can you elaborate on how this phenomenon shapes public opinion and societal norms?
Dr. Alex Rivera: Certainly. Algorithms prioritize content that resonates with users’ existing beliefs, often leading to reinforcement rather than diversity of thought. This not only shapes individual perspectives but can also lead to societal divisions, as people become more entrenched in their views. This is critically worrying for democratic processes, where open dialog is essential.
Rachel Martinez: That’s a poignant observation. The article also mentioned the need for digital literacy as a counterbalance to these challenges. What role does education play in fostering digital literacy?
Dr. Alex Rivera: Education is vital. We need to equip individuals with the skills to critically evaluate sources, understand algorithms, and recognize manipulative content. Integrating digital literacy into school curricula can empower future generations to navigate the digital landscape more effectively. We’re not just teaching technology; we’re teaching students how to think critically in a tech-driven world.
Rachel Martinez: Education is indeed an empowering tool. The author of the article suggested that tech companies have a moral obligation to consider the societal implications of their innovations. Do you agree?
Dr. Alex Rivera: I wholeheartedly agree. Tech companies wield immense power over how information is disseminated and consumed. There’s an ethical responsibility to prioritize user well-being over profit margins. Transparency in algorithms and accountability for content moderation practices is essential to foster a healthier digital environment.
Rachel Martinez: That’s a compelling point. As we look towards 2024 and beyond, what trends should we be mindful of that could reshape our society?
Dr. Alex Rivera: We should watch for the rise of artificial intelligence and its integration into everyday life. We’re seeing AI influence everything from personalized learning in education to decision-making in healthcare. However, with these advancements come ethical dilemmas around privacy, consent, and automation of jobs. It’s crucial that we approach these developments with caution and foresight.
Rachel Martinez: You’ve given us a lot to think about. To wrap up, what’s your hope for the future of technology and society working together?
Dr. Alex Rivera: My hope is for a collaborative effort where technologists, ethicists, educators, and policymakers come together to create a balanced approach to technology. It’s imperative that we prioritize human values in the digital age—ensuring technology uplifts society rather than undermines it.
Rachel Martinez: Thank you, Dr. Rivera, for sharing your insights with us today. It’s clear that the conversations we have now will influence the trajectory of technology and our society for years to come.
Dr. Alex Rivera: Thank you for having me, Rachel. It’s been a pleasure to discuss these pressing issues!
Rachel Martinez: And thank you to our readers for tuning in! Join us next time for more engaging discussions on the impact of technology on our lives.
