In Bangalore, Muslim organizations staged a sit-in protest against the Karnataka High Court ruling in the hijab case.

Controversy erupted in Karnataka after the state government banned Muslim students from wearing the hijab in schools and colleges.

In a related case, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ruled that the uniform order issued by the state government banning the wearing of hijab in classrooms would go through. Further, the High Court held that wearing the hijab was not an Islamic religious practice.

While one party has expressed support for this, Muslim organizations have been protesting.

Six Muslim students have appealed to the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court ruling.

Meanwhile, Muslim organizations in Bangalore today staged a sit-in protest demanding that Muslim students be allowed to wear the hijab in protest of the Karnataka High Court ruling. The normal life of the public has been affected as all the essential shops have been closed.
