Purim should definitely say “what a day to turn around”, and tonight the members of “That’s It” will renew the hit of the nineties which is itself a cover of the huge hit of the fifties.

In the late 1950s, a Mexican song called “La Bamba,” performed by Richie Valens, swept the United States and the world. The song made history when it was the first song in a Spanish performance to reach number one on the US charts. He also got another aura because of Valens’ tragic death when he was just 18 in a plane crash alongside artists Buddy Holly and J.P. Richardson, an event that was later described as “the day the music died.”

The song was very popular all over the world, and in 1990 it was performed in Hebrew by Shlomi Shabbat and the Atref band, most of whose songs were in a South American spirit, called “Yom Sabba”, with the Hebrew lyrics written by Yoni Roa and Rubens, the band’s lead singer. The song was included on the band’s album: “Atref 2”, and a year later, in 1991, on Shlomi Shabbat’s album “Don’t Go Too Far”.

Tonight, Thursday, members of “This Is It” will perform the song on a program that will be broadcast immediately after the “Tonight News” edition on Here 11.
