Israel and Egypt agreed yesterday (Wednesday) on the expansion of direct flights between Israel and Egypt, as part of which a new route will be inaugurated from Ben Gurion Airport to the city of Sharm el-Sheikh.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh last September.
In recent days, an agreement has been reached between the two countries, which was agreed yesterday in Egypt by an Israeli delegation led by the General Security Service. The agreement was formulated at the end of staff work led by the General Security Service (GSS) in cooperation with the National Security Headquarters (National Security Council) and other bodies with the Egyptian government, to formulate a security outline that would enable the line to operate.
Accordingly, the line from Ben Gurion Airport to the city of Sharm el-Sheikh will soon be inaugurated, and flights there are expected to start as early as next month, during the week of Passover.

Arkia has announced that it will operate two flights to Sharm el-Sheikh as early as this coming Passover. The flights will operate on the Amber 195 and Airbus 321 aircraft. Israir stated that as soon as all the required approvals are received, Israir will operate three flights a day and 15 weekly flights to the destination.
