The 2024 Local Autonomy Content Awards Ceremony is held every year to discover and disseminate excellent cases that have contributed to the growth of local autonomy. This year’s winners were selected through an open contest for best practices in 14 fields, including artificial intelligence/digital, habitat/safety, culture/tourism, etc., targeting local governments and local councils across the country from October 15th to October 31st. Joachim Arup Fischer, head of the Trade Representative at the Danish Embassy in Korea, introduced the Danish Midgrunden wind farm, which generates profits through 50% ownership by residents, and suggested various operating methods applicable to shinan-gun. In addition, TUV SUD Korea Managing Director Kim Ji-eon explained the offshore wind power industry ecosystem and jobs and presented ways to engage residents in connection with them.
Shinan County mayor Park Woo-ryang said, “In Shinan County, 34% of residents are benefiting from the sunlight pension through the development profit sharing system.” He added, “In addition to the sunlight and wind pension, all residents can directly participate in investments in renewable energy power generation projects through the citizen fund, creating new profits.” “We will work hard to create this,” he said.
