Dizzying success: Elden Ring sold 12 million copies

by time news

The gaming company FromSoftware Announced their recently released game Elden Ring Passed a most impressive landmark in less than three weeks. The game sold 12 million copies On all platforms and regions, only 20 days after its release.

Bandai Namco Expected to sell four million copies of Elden Ring in the first month. For comparison, each series Dark Souls Sold more than 27 million copies since the first game came out in 2021. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Reached 2 million copies sold in 10 days, andBloodborne Sold more than a million copies in two weeks. Elden Ring, on the other hand, overshadowed the company’s expectations and sold 12 million units worldwide, of which only one million copies were sold in Japan alone.

It’s amazing to see how many people play in the Elden Ring “Said CEO and President FromSoftware Hidatka Miyazaki. “I want to thank all the players wholeheartedly on behalf of the entire development team.” FromSoftware games are a favorite, no doubt, but their huge success is not usually reflected in the sales of actual games.

They sell well, of course, but FromSoftware games are traditionally tough, unforgiving and quite hardcore in terms of casual gamers. Accordingly, their games tend to appeal to a relatively niche audience but not necessarily a large audience that aspires to tens of millions of players like Voice of Duty or Fortnight.

However, that seems to be changing with Elden Ring. Maybe the old Souls games have been on the market long enough (since 2009) that now the level of difficulty in their games does not seem as threatening to gamers as it used to be. Maybe Elden Ring is just a much better game, and some will say that even easier than previous titles, it’s hard to know, but the game’s numbers speak for themselves.

Plus, sales so far are only part of the hype surrounding the game’s launch. So yes one can look on the one hand and say that most of the game sales will take place during the next month, two months. So no doubt millions more copies will be sold. Elden Ring tops the list with dignity, until Elden Ring 2?
