On Friday evening, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, leader ⁣of La France insoumise (LFI), ⁢addressed those who wish‍ to ⁤join‌ his movement ahead⁢ of early presidential ⁣elections. He proposed a “common candidacy” built around his⁤ programme. “We are in favor of a joint candidacy. We said it ten times, based on the program.⁤ And since we will follow the⁤ program, whoever wants to ‍come,‍ they are welcome,”⁢ he declared in ⁢front of activists‌ in Paris.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who is calling for Emmanuel MacronS resignation and hoping to provoke an early vote, ⁢also criticized divisions within the left. He highlighted the‌ retreat ‌of the‍ Communist ‍Party ⁤and the fringes of the Socialist Party. “We understood it […] the‌ Communist Party no longer wants us, we ⁣have⁣ understood that⁢ the right ‍of the Socialist party no longer ‌wants us‌ and we refuse to follow the people who insult us ‍along the way,” he said.

For “a federative offer”

The former three-time presidential candidate proposed a “federal offer” for those ready to join the ⁣LFI, warning that “the farce of‌ coming to every election to take ‍constituencies and weaken the program is over.”

These ‌statements come as tensions between left-wing parties remain high. while the Barnier government risks censure,LFI criticizes the socialists for seeking a compromise with the presidential majority, thus weakening⁤ the New Popular Front. For his part, ‌communist leader Fabien Roussel confirmed in October that he would not run again‌ “allied with the LFI”.
