In a statement to the media, the politician emphasizes that, perhaps, as a response to the growing dissatisfaction of the public, recently ther have been talks about the replacement of certain ministers or even the restart of the entire government.
Tavars says that the current situation in the government coalition dose not indicate a desire to make any improvements in the work of the government, but rather shows the usual management of relations and power games. Tavaras thinks that it is convenient for the prime minister and her party to blame everything on individual “skins” of the “Progressives”, to publicly shame and humiliate the ministers.
“This perfectly helps to hide the very inability and lack of supply. The tactic, so to speak, has been tested and can be continued for a long time. The question is how long the “Progressives” are willing to tolerate it, but it seems that their spine is quite flexible,” in a statement to the media indicated by Tavars.
at the same time, Tavars points out that the criticism towards the “Progressive” ministers is justified. The leader of the faction believes that the current Minister of Defence is increasing mistrust of Latvia’s security, not strengthening it, but the management of the “Rail Baltica” project is leading the country into a deep financial crisis, in which there will not be enough funds for either pensions or security.
“I want to make it clear that AS does not participate in any kind of negotiations regarding any possible support or involvement in this government. We are not going to be some kind of stooge for a very wobbly and ugly government structure. If the government cannot cope, it must fall and form a new one, as simple as that.” emphasizes Tavars.
Tavars points out that several conditions must be evaluated in order for AS to even consider the possibility of participating in this or another government model.
The leader of the AS Saeima faction points out that one of such conditions is the strengthening of Latvia’s internal and external security, support for Ukraine as the obvious most important task of the government.
Also, there must be a real and measurable reduction of the state administration apparatus by at least 10%.”This would not onyl reduce bureaucracy and state spending, but would also significantly improve the quality of life of citizens in many sectors,” explains Tavars.
He also believes that the government should work on reducing and merging the number of ministries. The state budget should also be reviewed, excluding all expenditure items that do not make a meaningful contribution to basic services.
The leader of the Saeima faction points out that when thinking about the government’s work, its usefulness and meaning, the question that politicians and voters should ask themselves is what is more important – to show each other who is the main thing here, or a problem that is important to all of us solutions.
