FFF condemned for “failures” regarding sexual harassment of a former employee, requested compensation – Libération

by time news
in a decision rendered on‌ November‍ 27, the ⁢Paris Court of Appeal explained that the body‌ “has allowed ⁤a deleterious atmosphere and‍ actions‌ contrary to respect for the dignity of women to ⁢persist within it.”

Sexual Harassment and FFF. The crime and the institute had been linked as early as ⁤january 2023,when the president of the French ‌Football Federation,Noël Le Graët,was at the center of an ⁢inquiry for moral⁤ and sexual harassment. A‍ case that led to his ruin, even though⁢ the⁤ investigations had been closed. The case is now at the center of new litigation: with a decision of 27⁣ November, ⁢the FFF⁢ saw ⁢its ⁤sentence aggravated on appeal for “shortcomings” concerning sexual harassment attributed to the entity’s financial director against‍ an employee. The Paris Court of Appeal thus condemned the Fédé to‌ “8,000 euros as ⁣compensation for⁢ his specific moral⁣ injury”.

in total,FFF is sentenced to pay ⁤18,000 euros to⁣ the‌ complainant,if we add the 10,000 euros to which FFF‍ had already been sentenced by the labor court‍ in October⁢ 2021,for “failure to comply with ‍the obligation to combat acts⁤ of ‌sexual harassment” attributed ⁢to the financial director,Marc Varin, against the complainant. The⁢ FFF,which has appealed against this decision, will also⁣ have to pay 5,500 euros in legal ⁣costs.

The complainant accused her superior in particular of‌ having attempted to steal‌ a ⁤kiss‌ from her on ⁣two occasions, ⁢at the‌ end of 2017 ⁣and during the 2018 World Cup, also ⁤reporting “insistent glances”From⁣ “daily⁢ observations” et “Entirely inappropriate remarks”. The FFF management had simply sent ‍a “call to order” to its financial director and organize training “anti-harassment” at its headquarters on Boulevard de⁣ Grenelle,Paris.

“Actions‍ contrary to respect for the dignity of women”

In the appeal ‍decision the Court confirmed the conviction before‍ the Labor Court. The⁣ employee was fine “victim of sexual harassment committed by a senior manager of the‌ FFF association, who allowed a deleterious atmosphere and actions contrary ⁤to respect ‍for‍ the dignity of women⁤ to persist within it”. The⁢ Court also rejected the FFF’s ‌claims for compensation made by⁣ the employee for damage to her image.

“It took ‌six years ⁢to see the illegitimate behavior of ⁤the FFF recognized, which, until the end of⁢ this ‍procedure, did⁢ not realize it and, worse still, ⁤continued⁣ its nauseating and ⁣unworthy ⁣insinuations and accusations against its former employee ⁣”, reacted⁢ the plaintiff’s lawyer, Me‍ Marie-Alix Canu Bernard. The‍ latter also regretted the dismissal of the criminal case by the prosecution. “This ‍affair,‌ which allowed⁣ the revelation of new facts and therefore the establishment of control within the FFF, was essential”, she congratulated herself.

The damning audit of the General ⁤Inspectorate ⁢of Education, Sports and Research (IGESR) into its‌ management, and in a context of ⁣allegations of sexual harassment, contributed to the resignation of FFF president Noël Le Graët,⁤ after eleven years of ⁤reign at the end ⁢of February 2023.

How can young people contribute ⁣to teh climate movement according to⁣ Dr. Elena Green?

Sure! Here’s an imaginary‍ interview between an editor of Time.news and a prominent environmental activist. The interview is designed to be engaging ‍and insightful.

Interview with Dr. Elena Green, Environmental Activist and Author of‌ “Planet in Peril”

Interviewer (Alex⁣ carter, Editor of Time.news):

Welcome, Dr. Green!‍ It’s a pleasure to have ‍you with us today. Your book, Planet in Peril, has⁢ captured the attention of many. What inspired you to ⁤write it?

Dr. Elena Green:

Thank you for having me, Alex. The inspiration ⁢came from my travels around the globe. I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of climate change—melting‍ glaciers, dying coral reefs, and communities struggling to adapt. I felt compelled to share these stories and motivate action before it’s too late.

Alex:

that’s a powerful motivation. In your book, you ⁢discuss the concept of “climate justice.” could you unpack that for us a bit?

Dr.Green:

Absolutely! Climate justice⁢ refers to the idea that those who contribute the least ‍to climate change—frequently enough marginalized communities—are the ones suffering the most from its impacts. It’s not⁢ just an‌ environmental issue; it’s a social‌ one. We need to amplify the voices of those who are disproportionately affected and ensure that climate policies are equitable.

Alex:

That’s a crucial point. As we talk about climate ‍policies, many ⁣people feel overwhelmed by the scale of the crisis. What can individuals do on a daily basis to contribute positively?

Dr. Green:

Great question! while systemic change is essential, individual actions‍ matter ‌too. People can ‌start by‌ reducing their carbon footprint: using public transportation, minimizing ⁢waste, and supporting lasting businesses. It’s also vital to engage in advocacy, whether that means contacting local representatives or joining grassroots movements.

Alex:

You emphasized the importance of collective action. In your opinion, what role do young people play in the climate movement ‍today?

Dr. Green:

Young people are at the forefront of the climate movement! They are tech-savvy, passionate, and fearless in demanding‍ change. Movements⁢ like Fridays for‍ future show us that when young voices unite, they can create dynamic shifts ⁣in policy and awareness. Their engagement reminds us that they will inherit the planet, and they won’t settle for inaction.

Alex:

It’s true; their⁣ voices are indeed powerful. ⁣As someone who has dedicated their life to this cause, what keeps you motivated amid the challenges?

dr. green:

Hope! It may sound cliché, but I see incredible resilience in nature and humanity. For every alarming statistic, there’s a community ⁤coming together to restore their surroundings, or an innovator developing sustainable technologies. These stories inspire me, and I believe there’s still time to create the future we want.

Alex:

I love that outlook.Lastly, what message would you like to leave our readers with today?

Dr. Green:

I want‍ readers to remember that change begins with awareness. ⁣Don’t shy away ⁤from the big ‌issues; face them head-on. Every small action contributes to a larger movement, and your voice matters.Stay informed, engage in conversations, and advocate for the planet. Together, we can make a difference.

Alex:

Thank you so‌ much for your insights, Dr.Green! Your ‍passion is infectious, and it’s heartening to see ⁤leaders ⁢like you championing the planet. We look forward to following your‌ journey and ⁢the impact of your work.

Dr. Green:

Thank you, Alex! It was a pleasure to speak with you. Let’s keep the conversation going—our planet needs all of us.
