Skarsgård says the role ⁣was extremely demanding, both physically and mentally:

– To be able to use‍ the​ voice we had worked so hard with, there ⁤was a ⁣whole routine every morning.Not just every morning, but between every take. It was a whole routine I built to access the voice, ‌he says.

The‍ actor had to go through an extensive makeup process every day to transform ‍into ‍the terrifying vampire. Sometimes it took up to six hours.

– It was very‍ uncomfortable.​ I got warm and sticky – and it ⁢itched, Skarsgård​ recalls.
