As is traditional, Doctor’s Day is celebrated every December 3, and this time, the celebration started in November.
on Friday, November 15, a tribute to the doctors was held to celebrate 50 years of the medical profession.Well-known and prominent doctors, who during this period of time managed to earn the respect of their peers and the affection of the many patients who helped relieve their pain.
The O’Higgins Regional Council Board of Directors honored the Dr. María Victoria Mella, Dr. juan Toro Gallardo, Dr. Patricio Jiménez and Dr. Luciano Marisio Valdés.
In this vital ceremony, however, prizes were awarded to doctors who stood out during the year in different situations, whether in health issues or in matters related to the support and development of extra-curricular activities, such as art or sport:
-Dr. Mirta Tapia: A medical anesthesiologist by profession, who heads the new Human Rights department of COLMED O’higgins in 2019. This work was very necesary, after the events of the social outbreak and then during the pandemic.
-Dr. Rodrigo Aravena and Dr. Carlos Guerrero Chavez: For his participation in the World Medical Games (Medigames 2024),held in France,winning a bronze medal in mountain biking,and first place in the Seniors category in the Golf competition,respectively.
– Red Moon: 7th year medical student at Uighur University, for the best average of his generation.
-Cristobal Soto: First year medical student at O’Higgins University, for his participation with a story in the National Conference of medical Writers of Chile XXV, an activity that took place in pucón.
Likewise, the Sports Department of this Council, as part of the Doctor’s Day celebrations, gave the members and their families a trip to the Tipaume Reserve, located in the commune of Rengo, with a high attendance, where they could enjoy walks and bikes to take from nature and lunch friendship.
The climax of this celebration was the traditional members’ party on November 29, where they enjoyed a night of comedy, gifts and many surprises. On the occasion we went with the Vice President of the Medical College of Chile, Dr. Iván Mendoza, who commented on the agreements and the work done by the National Board of Directors this year.
For her, the president of Colmed O’Higgins, Dr.Sonia Correa,the trust of the doctors in this guide and she also thanked for the high level of attendance for the various activities carried out during the year and especially those carried out by the Council. In addition, the award was given to Dr. Magali Pachecowho will receive the highest distinction granted by the association: Honorary Decoration of the medical Order of the medical College of Chile. A medical surgeon with a professional career and a well-known trade union,president of this Regional Council for three terms and vice-president of the National Council for two terms,a matter of pride for the union,and also for the region.
