Seoul Botanical Garden announced on the 5th that it will hold the ‘Winter Festival’, where citizens can enjoy the Seoul Botanical Garden even in the cold winter, for about 10 weeks until February next year.
This is a festival where you can experience the charm of the Seoul Botanical garden greenhouse. A special Christmas exhibition will be held at the Mediterranean pavilion with the theme ‘The Winter Fairy Appears!’ the Tropical Hall will also hold a tropical orchid exhibition under the theme of ‘Today’s Orchids’.
In the greenhouse Mediterranean pavilion, you can see 60 winter fairies made with Mediterranean plants and Christmas decorations.A marimba performance, a wooden percussion instrument that originated in Africa, will be held inside the greenhouse at 15:00 on the 21st and 28th. At the tropical orchid exhibition held in the greenhouse’s tropical pavilion, you can experience about 60 species of orchids, including Vanda, Cattleya, Oncidium, Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis, and Papiopedilum, and also a photo zone using traditional crafts from Southeast Asia. The Seoul Botanical Garden announced that it had imported over 600 specimens of 28 varieties of Vanda and 16 varieties of rare orchids from Thailand to exhibit Vanda, which is difficult to find in Korea.
special programs such as crafts, observation, and online events are also operated in conjunction with the winter vacation in December. you can view the Winter Festival after issuing a greenhouse admission ticket,and you must apply for the citizen participation program online in advance through the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s public reservation service.
Park Mi-seong,director of the Seoul Botanical Garden,said,“Through the Winter Festival,we hope you can spend special time with plants in a warm greenhouse even in the cold winter.” He added, “We will continue to present unique programs for each season and spaces where you will want to stay for a long time.”

The idea was to showcase the greenhouse’s charm, offering a warm escape filled with enchanting decorations and stunning plant exhibitions. It’s all about bringing joy during a season when many people stay indoors.

Park Mi-seong: Visitors can look forward to a magical display featuring 60 winter fairies created from Mediterranean plants and christmas decorations. Park Mi-seong: Of course! The tropical orchid exhibition features about 60 different species, including some rare varieties from Thailand. We’ve brought in over 600 specimens across 28 varieties of vanda orchids, which are not commonly found in Korea. This gives our guests a rare opportunity to marvel at thes beautiful flowers up close.
