Water in the pool…Magnitude 7 earthquake off the west coast of the United States,tsunami warning at one point

At about 10:44 local time on the 5th (about 3:44 Japan time on the 6th),a strong earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 7.0 occurred off the northern coast of California, USA.
A tsunami warning was issued for coastal areas in northern California and southern Oregon, but was later lifted. About 4.7 million people live in this region.
According to local authorities, there were no reports of deaths or large-scale damage from the earthquake.
According to the US Geological Survey, the closest municipality to the epicenter is Ferendale, California, a small city in Humboldt County. The city is located approximately 418 kilometers north of San Francisco.
CBS News, the BBC’s US affiliate, quoted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office as saying that there was no catastrophic damage to buildings or infrastructure, but that some homes were slightly damaged.
In addition, some items fell from their shelves, and many residents reported experiencing temporary power outages.
Power outages affected more than 10,000 people in Humboldt county after the quake, according to poweroutage.us, a site that compiles power outage data from across the United States.
Evacuation orders have been issued for the city of Berkeley in Northern California due to the possibility of a tsunami.
The city issued a warning on social media, “Please evacuate now.” “People in the tsunami zone must evacuate instantly. Stay east of 7th Avenue. This is a legal evacuation order.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom was notified of the earthquake and met with state emergency officials to coordinate a response.

The West Coast of the United states is were several of the Earth’s plates meet, and earthquakes are not uncommon. Though, strong magnitude 7 earthquakes are not commonly seen in this region.
