YouTuber Shuka (real name Jeon Seok-jae, 45), who has 3.4 million subscribers, was criticized by public opinion for saying about President Yoon Seok-yeol, “I hope he finishes his term smoothly.” Shuka eventually deleted the video.
On the 5th, Shuka released a video titled ‘KOSPI Emptying with Martial Law’ on his YouTube channel.
In the broadcast, Shuka mentioned a series of events following President Yoon’s declaration of martial law. Shuka mentioned former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun’s ‘heavy and excessive’ remarks. When martial law was lifted, former Minister Kim said to the commanders, “It was a heavy burden. He was reported to have said, “Thank you for your hard work.” It means that heavy amulets were too small to fight. This is interpreted to mean that martial law could have been maintained if more martial law troops had been mobilized.
Shuka said, “A heavy duty talisman? “I don’t even know what the overkill was,” he said. “I’m neither left nor right.” “I have no intention of supporting it,” he said. He added, “I hope the current president does well as well. I hope he does well and resigns after completing his term smoothly, and the same goes for the next president. “I wish both the left and the right could work together to do something good, but I don’t understand why this was a heavy burden,” he added.
After Shuka’s broadcast, many netizens have been criticizing his statement, ‘I hope the current president finishes his term smoothly.’
Many netizens responded, “How much is the economic loss due to the declaration of martial law? Is it okay for an economic YouTuber to say something like this?” and “I just hope everything goes well. I have nothing to say.” Some people defended him, saying, “It truly seems like he wants this situation to work out well” and “I think he overinterpreted Shuka’s remarks too much.”
As controversy arose, Shuka deleted the video.
