Against the background of the holiday events, the Jerusalem District Police has in recent days conducted covert and overt activities, along with increased enforcement activities in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, to prevent the marketing and distribution of dangerous toys and drugs destined to fall into the hands of celebrants. Enforcement activities were also conducted in businesses subject to licensing, with an emphasis on activities to prevent the sale of alcohol and dangerous toys to minors.

During the activities of the Oz station in recent days, a minor was found in possession of a large amount of explosives. Following a network monitoring activity, a suspected resident of Anata (MP Shuafat) in his 40s was located and arrested by a law enforcement station after he issued threats and incitement in preparation for Purim. The suspect was taken for questioning in the central unit of the Jerusalem district and his detention was extended in court for several days.

Jerusalem District Police and Border Police fighters will continue with the increased preparation during the day (Friday) in places where Purim events will take place in the city, with a wide deployment in security and order circles, directing traffic and keeping the celebrants safe.

The police said: “We call on the public again, to be vigilant and report any unusual incident to the 100 police hotline. It is also possible to be constantly updated on relevant information and changes in traffic arrangements, through the National Police Information Center, which is numbered 110 ”.
