As part of the Israeli police’s targeted enforcement against the use and illegal possession of weapons, for the sake of public safety and security, Lod police officers last night (Friday) chased a suspect who was seen near midnight in the city center, when he tried to escape from them. Meanwhile, Lod police officers chased the suspect, bouncing various police units operating at the time in the city, including other police officers, the motorcycle unit and the municipal police, until his arrest.
As stated, the police arrested the suspect – a 21-year-old resident of the PA, who is staying in Israel in violation of the law, when in his possession, the police seized a Jericho-type pistol, a cartridge and ammunition.
The suspect was questioned and imprisoned and will be brought to court today for a request to extend his detention, in accordance with the needs of the investigation and its findings.
