New Delhi: The Congress has announced its Rajya Sabha candidate. The Rajya Sabha candidate of the Congress is JB Mehta, the state president of the Mahila Congress. In the earlier extensive discussion, three names were mainly chaired by the KPCC before the High Command. The names of JB Mather, M Liju, and Jason Joseph were raised. The KPCC handed over the list this afternoon. Within just three hours, High Command announced JB Mather as its candidate.

JB Mather, the state president of the Mahila Congress, has a positive outlook on the Muslim community, women’s and youth representation, and her work experience in Delhi as the Youth Congress National Officer. The Congress has no MPs from the Muslim community in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha from the state. But with the addition of AA Rahim to the Left, the Muslim representation will increase to three. In view of this and the current political situation in the state, JB’s name was included in the list. This was approved by the High Command.
