Representing the Kingdom at the international conference in support of Lebanon, organized at the initiative of the president of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, Fouad Yazourh, Ambassador Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing abroad affirmed that Lebanon “cannot and must not continue to carry on its shoulders the burden of the conflicts which are playing out elsewhere, in the shadow of regional agendas, and which have left it bloodless”.
After welcoming President Macron’s initiative to organize this conference in a particularly worrying international and regional context, marked by ongoing military operations on an unprecedented scale as 2006, Mr. Yazourh noted that “Lebanese citizens are in right to aspire to peace, security and that tranquility for which they have waited too long.”
Morocco, he affirmed, calls on the international community to act to achieve a complete ceasefire under the monitoring and supervision of the United Nations, upon the return of each displaced person with the guarantee of real and the provision of essential humanitarian aid, under the direct supervision of the Lebanese authorities and to deploy all efforts to rebuild what was destroyed by the war under the supervision of the international community and official Lebanese institutions.
The vision of the Kingdom of Morocco,carried by His Majesty King Mohammed VI,President of the Al-Quds Committee,is clear in this regard,recalled Mr. Yazourh, noting that for Morocco it is indeed not enough to manage the crisis as a burden, but a definitive solution must be found, noting that at the heart of this impasse is the Palestinian question.
On this subject,Mr. Yazourh noted that for Morocco, any long-term solution, any real peace in this region, requires a two-state solution.
“An independent Palestine,of which Gaza would be an integral part,with east Jerusalem as its capital. without this, as His Majesty the King has repeatedly emphasized, there will never be lasting security or stability,” he stressed.

Reiterating Morocco’s solidarity with the people and government of Lebanon, Mr. Yazourh affirmed that today, more than ever, “it is indeed imperative that reason and diplomacy prevail,” noting that “the judgment immediate response to the hostilities in Lebanon and Gaza must be our first priority, which cannot be sustainable without the establishment of a parallel political perspective, capable of building the foundations of a just and stable peace for the entire region. .
This conference, which brought together Lebanon’s partner states, the United Nations, the European Union and international, regional and civil society organizations, aimed to mobilize the international community to respond to the protection and relief needs of emergency of the population of Lebanon and to identify ways of supporting the country’s institutions, in particular the Lebanese Armed Forces.
