Come with so many expectations. ‘Kudiraival’ co-produced by Ranjith Yazhi Films Vignesh Sundaresan has been released in theaters today.

It seemed that the theater would have been overwhelmed by the comedy if the fortune teller had only given the role to SJ Surya. Kalaiyarasan, Chetan, the dream-telling grandmother, Anjali Patil, who has lost his memory and wandered in search of a dream, have given life to all the characters like the flashback girl Neeli who is waiting for Kalaiyarasan. But, the story just moves like a horseless tail.
In general, dreams are incomprehensible and irregular. Most dreams will not be remembered even when awake. Sometimes what we are deeply thinking about comes to mind. The film focuses on Sigmund Freud’s dream research. The protagonist also introduces himself as Freud. The Magical Realism genre for Tamil cinema is different, welcome and commendable. The film is supposed to be like ‘Wall Nut Cake’. But, the big minus is that the picture was taken without understanding the dream model. The picture is not as comprehensible as the accounts written throughout the math teacher’s room. I do not remember coming out after watching the movie.
Just as Kalaiyarasan went in search of his grandmother, mathematician and astrologer in search of dreams, fans also had to go in search of film directors like Rajesh, Freud, who wrote the story, screenplay and script.
The big strength of the film is the cinematography by Karthik Muthukumar and the songs by Pradeep Kumar. Karthik Muthukumar has kept the camera inside the room and rotated it from different angles as per his dreams. Each scene is refreshing, showing colorful colors to the eyes like a rainbow. Pradeep Kumar has excelled in the songs ‘Flying Away’ and ‘Araro Ariro’.
Directors have tried to make a Tamil cinema of world cinema standard. But is world cinema enough to be understood only by artists, writers, journalists and intellectuals, like the world cinemas released at film festivals? Does the general audience not understand? The ‘horse’ team must find the answer to the questions.
The title of the film ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, first produced by director Pa. Ranjith, focused on the horse. In his recent film ‘Writer’, a woman who was stopped by a high-ranking official on horseback thrilled the audience with her majestic ride. However, in the film ‘Kudiraiwal’, they have tried to point out all the Muslim Power advertisements as masculine and feminine from a different angle. There is nothing wrong with that. But it would be a mistake to subject our patience to psychological research to the extent that we might get on a horse and run away if we found a horse inside the theater.
