An amended and restated lawsuit filed in federal court on Sunday alleges that rap mogul Jay-Z raped a 13-year-old girl with Sean “Diddy” Combs during a party in 2000.
Jay-Z has denied the allegations on social media and criticized the legal action, saying it is part of a “blackmail attempt” by the plaintiff’s lawyer. Jay-Z’s lawyers did not respond to a request for comment regarding this accusation.
The lawsuit was originally filed in October in the Southern District of New York and, at the time, did not name Jay-Z as a co-defendant, although the lawsuit filed now says the rapper was identified as “Celebrity A” in the original complaint.
Coms denied all allegations against him, including this one, in October as well. The musician is currently in custody on federal sex trafficking charges, to which he has also pleaded not guilty.
The lawsuit filed on Sunday alleged that the girl, who has not been named, was drugged and raped by Jay-Z and Combs at a party thrown by the latter after the 2000 MTV Music Awards, a ceremony held in New York .
Tony Buzbee, the Texas lawyer now representing the woman who alleges she was raped 24 years ago, has filed at least 20 civil lawsuits against Combs accusing him of sexual misconduct.
No e-mail sent to reuters, Buzbee saeid Jay-Z’s lawsuit speaks for itself.”This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court,” Buzbee wrote.
In his now-amended lawsuit, Buzbee claims his office had already sent a letter to Jay-Z asking for a settlement.
According to the same court filing, jay-Z responded to that letter by filing suit against Buzbee and “orchestrating a harassment conspiracy” against that lawyer and others at his firm, which, according to the plaintiff’s representative, is an intimidation tactic aimed at.to silence your client.
No post on social media, Buzbee said that the alleged rape victim he had “never demanded a dime” from Jay-Z, writing that she “only wanted a confidential intervention.”
Last week, Buzbee filed a lawsuit against the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which represents Combs and jay-Z, accusing the firm’s legal team of harassing his colleagues, clients and family.
Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan did not respond to Reuters requests for comment.
