In a fight full of drama and controversy, teh Mexican Rafael ‘Divino’ Espinoza kept his featherweight belt by defeating the Cuban Robeisy Ramírez, who was seeking to regain the title lost months ago.
However, the fight was marked by an incident in the fourth round that ended up being decisive in the result.
During that round, Espinoza threw an elbow that directly hit Ramírez’s right eye. This blow, according to the Cuban’s own statements, seriously affected his vision, causing discomfort that did not allow him to continue clearly in the fight.
Even though the referee scolded the Mexican after Robeisy Ramírez complained, the damage was already irreversible.
Before the controversial blow, the Antillean fighter claimed to be dominating the fight. “He elbowed me in the fourth round and I started seeing double. “I told the referee, he did his job and scolded him, but the damage was already done,” he noted after the confrontation.
While it is true that he was leading the cards at that time, he made the difficult decision to leave to protect his health.
The outcome came in the sixth round, when the medical team determined that Ramírez was not fit to continue.
The boxer was later transferred to Banner University Medical Center, where tests confirmed a fracture in the right orbital bone.
Fortunately, the Top Rank spokesperson reported that the Cuban is stable, even though his recovery could take several weeks.
For his part, Espinoza avoided commenting on the elbow incident and celebrated his victory, highlighting that boxing is a sport of unpredictable moments.

Meanwhile,Ramírez made it clear that, although he lost the belt,he prioritized his physical well-being above any result.
“I think it is indeed the best decision when you get hit badly, when I have double vision and I cannot be in my best condition, the best thing is to stop to take care of my health, even though as everyone is seeing I am in good health.”he stated.
Now, fans are wondering if this controversy will lead to both fighters facing each other again in the future, so a possible rematch could be under discussion.
