mainstream medias are now virtually a minority

Anna Brees’ head is very much over the information-jungle parapet. Formerly with ITV and BBC television, a decade or so ago she moved into media-training for corporate and public services as well as small businesses. And notably from 2016, as Smartphones improved, via that medium. In 2017 she founded Brees Media, only to find that private citizens – for whom she now provides free media training – were increasingly contacting her for assistance, owing to the glaring lack of public debate on fundamental issues.

As a mother of two, she initially began to scrutinise the underside of the Corona crisis to defend their integrity, including physical integrity, against masks, confinement and then the anti-Covid vaccines. One thing led to another and she was soon interviewing leading dissidents such as Doctors Mike Yeadon or Roger Hodkinson and attending freedom marches. Although she acknowledges that the so-called MSM (which she says are no longer mainstream but virtually a minority) have to cooperate with government to keep the messagining clear, at the end of the day all debate has been stifled. The public is no longer spoken to as intelligence adults. Thus, without as yet having come to a firm opinion on the Ukrainian events, she fails to grasp why Russia Today should be silenced, a move which only serves to prevent the public from hearing both sides.

The MSM should henceforth be referred to as the « Old Media », she says, and the alternative, as the New. The New Media audience has already almost outstripped that of the Old (for example, The Highwire alone garners 6 million views/week). Banned from Youtube, she is now suspended from Facebook as well for 30 days for having waved a  Selfie stick about whilst saying facetiously that she might « bash’s em on the head with a Selfie stick ». No suprise, that banning, for Anna Brees is influential ; on various platforms, her posts often attract hundreds of thousands of views.

Given the breakdown in public confidence in what was once called the Authorities, the question is « in whom and in what can you place your trust ? Where are our values? ». Citizens worldwide must stop playing the underdog. Accodingly, Anna Brees supports emerging citizens’ movements such as Lawyers for Liberty, Stand in the Park, Rebels on Roundabouts or Save our Rights UK which have built elaborate lines of communication.
