JI: Thank you for having me! it’s truly an honor to be nominated. This recognition is a unique possibility for my career and something I have dreamt of for a long time. It feels incredible to be acknowledged in this way, especially at such a prestigious event.
TNE: That’s wonderful to hear! Can you tell us a bit about your role in the film My Inseparables? What resonated with you about this character?
JI: In My Inseparables, I portray a complex character who navigates themes of friendship and personal growth. What resonated with me is his journey; he faces struggles that many people can relate to. Thru this role, I wanted to convey vulnerability and strength, and I feel proud of the work we accomplished as a team.
TNE: It sounds like a captivating role. How did you prepare for this character,especially considering the emotional depth required?
JI: preparation is key for any role,but with this one,I immersed myself in the character’s world. I spent time understanding his background and motivations, and I also worked closely with the director, Anne-Sophie Bailly, to ensure we were aligned on the character’s arc. Emotional depth often comes from personal experiences, so I drew from my own life reflecting on resilience and the relationships that define us.
TNE: Collaboration seems vital in the filmmaking process. What was it like working with Anne-Sophie Bailly and the rest of the cast?
JI: working with Anne-Sophie has been an illuminating experience. She fosters a creative habitat where all actors feel encouraged to express themselves. The chemistry among the cast was also remarkable. We supported each other throughout filming, which made our performances feel authentic. Every rehearsal felt like a genuine exploration of the material.
TNE: It certainly sounds like a rewarding experience. With this nomination, do you have any specific goals moving forward in your career?
JI: My main goal is to continue growing as an actor and exploring diverse roles. I hope this nomination opens new doors for me in the industry, allowing me to take on projects that challenge me and allow me to contribute meaningful stories. I also want to inspire others with my work and share my passion for acting with those who dream of a similar path.
TNE: Inspiring others is a stunning goal. Lastly, how do you feel about the importance of awards like the César in recognizing emerging talent?
JI: Awards like the César are crucial for emerging talent. They not only recognize hard work but also bring attention to new voices and stories in cinema. This kind of recognition helps us reach wider audiences and encourages more diverse storytelling in the future, and I’m grateful to be a part of this vibrant community.
