The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan strengthens cooperation with UNICEF

Cooperation between​ the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and UNICEF was discussed.

As Day.Az reports with reference to the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan,the ‌ministry held a meeting with a representative⁤ of‌ the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the country Sajoy Farooq Abdullah.

According to ‌the information, after welcoming the⁤ guests, ​the Minister of Health Teymur musaev⁤ emphasized the versatility of ⁣relations between Azerbaijan ⁢and UNICEF.

“Over ‌the ⁣past period,a number of⁤ projects have been⁤ successfully implemented‌ in⁣ the ‍areas of healthcare,education,maternal and child health,” he noted.

Teymur Musaev said ⁢that the ministry‍ is ⁣taking critically important steps to improve the quality of services ​in the field of ⁣maternal and⁤ child health.

Stressing the importance of COP29, held in Baku in November this year, Teymur Musayev noted that within the framework of the global summit,⁤ panel discussions were⁣ held jointly organized by the Ministry ⁣of Health⁢ of Azerbaijan ‍and the World Health Organization on the topic “Strengthening human⁤ resources ‍for⁣ health care ‍in planning‌ for ⁤the consequences​ of climate change⁣ on health⁢ and‍ response to them.”

It was also noted that ​from the 2024/25 academic year at ‍the Azerbaijan‌ Medical University (AMU), the subject “Climate Change and Health” has been introduced for second-year students.

the Minister of ‌Health of Azerbaijan expressed confidence in the further progress of bilateral cooperation.

In turn, Saja Faruk Abdullah recalled that the UN Children’s Fund began working in Azerbaijan⁢ in 1993.

“UNICEF is committed‍ to ⁢working closely with the government of Azerbaijan to build a better future for children ⁣and create opportunities for ‍them to fully ⁣develop their potential,” she said.

Highly appreciating the achieved level‍ of partnership between ‍azerbaijan and UNICEF, Saja Faruk Abdullah noted that⁤ the cooperation program for 2021-2025 serves‌ as the basis ​for closer interaction.
