Kovid cases rise again in the world; WHO, Covid, WHO, Omicron say misinformation leads to dissemination

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an assessment in the wake of a resurgence of Kovid cases in several countries around the world. Maria Van Kerkhov, head of the World Health Organization’s technical division, said a number of factors, including the spread of misinformation, were contributing to the spread of the new Kovid.

The false propaganda that the Kovid epidemic is over has led to misconceptions among the people. There is a propaganda that the Omicron variant is harmless and that it is the last variant. This, in turn, has led to the neglect of preventive measures against Kovid among the population and thus the spread of the disease, she said.

BA2 has been found to be the most pervasive ever. There does not appear to be any difference in disease severity between BA2 and BA1. However, an increase in the number of infected people could lead to an increase in the number of hospital admissions and an increase in the number of deaths, Maria van Kerkhov explained.

Worldwide, there were 1.1 crore new cases reported last week, up eight per cent from the previous week. About 99.9% of the cases reported in the last 30 days were from the Omicron variant. Of this, 75% is BA2 and 25% is BA1. But the World Health Organization estimates that there has been a sharp decline in the number of covid tests recently.

South Korea and China have seen an increase of more than 25 percent in Kovid cases. Many experts share the concern that another Kovid wave is forming in Europe. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently stated that it may take a long time for the Kovid epidemic to end completely in the wake of a growing number of new cases around the world.
