The⁤ exhibition “An Extraordinary Journey with‌ Turgenev to the East” is timed to coincide with a⁤ traditional holiday in Orel – the‌ birthday of a native of ‍this city, a classic of russian literature, Ivan Turgenev. The exhibition became the first ⁢cultural event of this kind, which, after a long break,‍ drew the attention of residents of the “third literary capital” to the East. Rustam ‍Huseynov presented an exhibition of his photographs dedicated to the architecture and nature of Azerbaijan.

In the laconic and expressive shots of the ‍master, ‌visitors are presented with⁤ the majestic mountains of ⁢Azerbaijan, the intricate ligature ⁣of⁣ its roads, the⁤ scarlet glow of blooming⁣ poppies in the valleys, the waves⁤ of the Caspian surf, and the exquisite beauty of the ancient architecture of Azerbaijan. Thus, with the works of‍ Rustam Huseynov, a window to ⁢the East ‌opened for the residents of the‌ city of Orel.

Literary Museum I.S. Turgenev’s presentation of this photo journey was not accidental:⁢ after all, the Russian writer was captivated by the East – the “land of wonders” from childhood,‍ as evidenced‌ by his book‍ collection. The brilliant “oriental pages” of Turgenev’s “mysterious ⁢tales” and his interest in‌ the work of the great poets of the east are about the same thing. Following Turgenev, his fellow countrymen -⁤ classics of Russian literature⁣ – made a literary journey ⁣to ‌the East: A. Fet, N. Leskov, I. Bunin, L. ‌Andreev and others.

The exhibition of works by Rustam Huseynov‍ will last untill January 20, 2025.

Editor: Your exhibition‍ is quite ⁤timely, coinciding⁤ with the birthday ‍of Ivan Turgenev. ‌Why do you think it’s critically important to connect ⁣your⁢ photography with Turgenev’s literary journey?

Rustam: Turgenev⁢ had a profound fascination with the East, as ‌he depicted in his literature. By showcasing‌ my photographs that⁤ capture ⁤the essence of ‌Azerbaijan’s architecture and nature, I aim to bridge the gap between visual art and literature. This connection allows ⁢viewers to experience the‌ beauty‍ of Azerbaijan in⁢ a new way, reflecting the themes that ‍fascinated turgenev and other Russian⁢ writers.

Editor: Can you elaborate on some of the elements included in your photographs?

Rustam: My photographs feature various facets of Azerbaijan, from its ⁣majestic mountains and intricate roadways ⁣to the vibrant scarlet of blooming ‌poppies and the serene waves of the Caspian Sea. Editor: It’s‌ captivating how you’ve intertwined cultural narratives through photography.⁣ What do you⁣ hope the‍ audience takes away from this exhibition?

Rustam: My primary‌ hope is that visitors come away with ‍a greater thankfulness for Azerbaijan’s rich heritage and⁤ natural beauty. ⁣I want them to feel the warmth of our landscapes and understand the significance of‌ the East in the fabric of literary history. Art has the power to evoke feelings ⁤and inspire curiosity, and I believe my work can foster a deeper connection with these themes.

Rustam: Absolutely. Cultural exhibitions serve as vital platforms for dialogue and understanding between nations. By sharing our artistic ⁣expressions,⁣ we can foster goodwill ⁢and encourage curiosity about each other’s histories and cultures. Events like this⁣ show that art transcends borders and can unite us in unexpected ways.

Rustam: The key is to be authentic and passionate about ⁢your‌ subject.⁤ Create a unique portfolio that reflects your‍ vision and voice. Networking is also important—attend⁤ art shows, engage with‍ fellow artists, and utilize ⁤social media‍ platforms to showcase your work. Don’t ⁣shy away from combining diffrent art forms,‌ as I have done‍ with photography and literature. Always seek feedback and be open to learning.
