On the 10th,the Geumho-eup Life Improvement Association (Chairman Park Bun-sook),Jukgrimsa Temple (Head Monk Seonji),and the Korean Red Cross Yeongcheon Peace Service Association (Chairman Lee Gwang-young) each donated 1 million won in scholarships to the Yeongcheon Mayors Association (Chairman Choi Ki-moon).
The Geumho-eup Life Improvement Association achieved the feat of winning the grand prize at the ‘2024 Agricultural Safety Disaster Contest’ hosted by the Rural Advancement Administration, which was promoted for the purpose of creating a safety culture foundation that allows farmers to create a safe agricultural work surroundings. To share the joy of receiving the award, 1 million won in prize money was donated to foster local talent. Chairman Park Boon-sook expressed his thoughts about the donation, saying, “It is very meaningful and rewarding to donate the prize money to local students, and I will continue to make efforts for regional development in the future.”
Jukgrimsa Temple, which was founded during the reign of King Heondeok of Silla, fell into ruins during the Japanese invasion and the Korean War, but the current building was later restored, and as a temple with deep local roots, it is indeed loved by citizens as a place of healing. By conducting meditation camping and temple stays with students, he emphasized cultivating a sense of community by experiencing the spirit of service among neighbors. Monk Seonji said, “I hope that the students will grow into warm-hearted adults who respect their teachers and parents, and are also interested in their neighbors in challenging situations.” He added, “I ask for the scholarship society’s support in helping the students grow into great talents.” “I give it to you,” he said.
The Korean Red Cross Yeongcheon Peace Corps shared a helping hand through various volunteer activities in the region and contributed to the work of local talents, donating a scholarship worth 1 million won. President Lee Gwang-young said, “I hope that the members’ small sincerity will be of some help to the students, and I hope that students in difficult circumstances will continue their studies without losing their will with the interest and love of many people.”
Chairman Choi Ki-moon said, “we would like to express our gratitude to the donors who have worked hard for the region through consistent service and sharing. Their positive influence will brighten our community and the warmth they have conveyed will serve as nourishment for the future of students.”

At the donation ceremony on this day, the head monk Seonji said, “It is a small gesture, but I hope it will bring warm happiness to the elderly, and next year, I will practice greater sharing with more believers.”
Geumho-eup Mayor Son Tae-guk said, “We are deeply grateful to monk Seonji for donating rice cakes for the senior citizens at the senior center, and we hope that the compassionate heart of Jukgrimsa believers and Buddha, who added warmth to the community, will provide hope to many people.”
