BOLZANO. Following the maxi-inquiry by the Trento Prosecutor’s Officethe opposition in the Bolzano Provincial Council is demanding a “thorough clarification” and has therefore presented today (13 December) a request for the establishment of a commission of inquiry. The request was made by Süd-Tiroler Freiheit, Team K, Verdi, Lista JWA, pd, Gruppo Frazione Libere e Vita.
“There is a suspicion that the close ties between Hager and the Svp have led to political influences in favor of large projects. In this context, it is indeed also necessary to analyze the donations to the SVP during the 2018 and 2023 election campaigns”, continues the opposition.
The objective of the commission of inquiry is ”to investigate the accusations against the Austrian tycoon’s Signa group René benko e Heinz Peter Hager, on the influence of individuals and companies on political decisions, as well as on related funding for the SVP. Furthermore, it will be crucial to examine the links between the construction and real estate projects of Signa and heinz-Peter Hager (Waltherpark, Virgolo, airport, Gries-Village, PPP and other projects).”
They will also be analysed electoral donations in favor of governor Arno Kompatscher and the SVP in the 2018 and 2023 campaigns, German and Italian language advertisements for Kompatscher, and also compliance with the legal limit on its election campaign costs.
