The Olympic Committee said in a statement received by the (INA): “The Iraqi national team’s weightlifter, Salwan Jassim, who weighed 109 kg, won the bronze medal in the World Weightlifting Championship, which is currently being competed in the Bahraini capital, Manama, in the shot put event, after he achieved 220 kg. Fourth place in the world in total after achieving 396 kg.
The head of the Iraqi Weightlifting Federation, Muhammad Kadhim Mazal, said, according to the statement: “The weightlifter, Jassim, won sixth place in the snatch event after achieving 176 kg, despite the fierce competition that the tournament witnessed, which included most of the world champions in the game.”
He added,”Tomorrow,Sunday,will witness the fight of weightlifter Ali Ammar,weighing +109 kg,which we hope will achieve the desired results,as he is considered one of the champions of the sport in the world.”
