Set against the backdrop of the colonial war between Britain and France taking place in the Americas in the 18th century, the love and adventure unfolds between ‘Hawkeye’, a white man raised by the Mohicans, and ‘Koa’, the daughter of a British officer. Hawkeye, a white young man who was raised by a Mohican chief as a warrior for the Mohicans, goes into battle to protect the chief’s son Uncas and the Mohicans when a war breaks out between England and France over territory. At that time, Britain and France were engaged in a territorial war, and the victims were Indians. The original work of the film is a novel by James F. Cooper (1789-1851), who is considered the founder of American western literature. Daniel Day-lewis, who plays the role of the Mohican warrior ‘Hawkeye’, shows off his unique, charismatic action performance with his long hair and wild aura. won the Best Sound Sound Award at the 65th Academy Awards.
