Time.news Editor (TNE): Welcome to Time.news! Today, we have the privilege of speaking with Director Linesun, a remarkable figure recently recognized as an excellent worker at the 2024 Korea Senior Club Association National Senior Job Competition. Congratulations on your achievement, Director Linesun!
Director Linesun (DL): Thank you so much! It’s an honor to be here adn to share insights about our work with seniors.
TNE: Let’s dive right in. Can you tell us what inspired you to work in the field of senior empowerment and community engagement?
DL: Absolutely! Throughout my career, I’ve always been passionate about creating inclusive environments. When I started seeing the potential that seniors have to contribute to society, I realized that there were critically important barriers preventing them from engaging fully. My goal has been to break down those barriers and empower them to share their wisdom and skills.
TNE: That’s such a noble pursuit! Can you explain what the Korea Senior Club Association is and its role in supporting seniors?
DL: The Korea Senior Club Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults. we focus on developing programs that encourage participation, foster skills, and promote social connections. By organizing various activities,we aim to combat loneliness and provide seniors with purposeful engagement in their communities.
TNE: That’s inspiring! What specific initiatives have you been involved in that led to your recognition at the competition?
DL: One of the key initiatives has been our Skill Sharing Program, where seniors teach various crafts, skills, and hobbies to younger generations. This not only empowers the seniors but also bridges the generational gap, creating a stronger community bond. Additionally, we’ve worked on health and wellness campaigns tailored specifically for seniors to maintain their physical and mental well-being.
TNE: It sounds like you’ve built a vibrant community! How do you measure the impact of these programs on seniors?
DL: We utilize both qualitative and quantitative methods. Surveys help us track satisfaction and engagement levels, while feedback sessions allow us to hear seniors’ personal stories of transformation. The real success is when I see seniors taking initiative and expressing their desire to continue their involvement beyond our programs.
TNE: that’s fantastic! Moving forward, what are your goals for the future of senior engagement in korea?
DL: I envision expanding our outreach to include more rural areas where senior services are limited. By providing resources and creating partnerships with local organizations, we hope to ensure that every senior has access to meaningful activities and support. We also want to advocate for policy changes to better protect and promote the rights of seniors.
TNE: A commendable vision indeed! Lastly, what message would you like to share with our readers regarding the importance of valuing seniors in our society?
DL: I believe that every senior has a story, a wealth of experience, and valuable skills to share. By embracing their contributions and integrating them into our communities,we not only enrich their lives but also our own. Let’s work together to create a society that honors and uplifts our elders—that’s how we all thrive.
