Lee Jun-seok: “If you have any interest in politics, we can meet someday.”
Han Dong-hoon, former representative of the People Power Party, who resigned after failing to overcome the aftermath of impeachment, published a summary of his position at the time of the declaration of martial law on social networking services (SNS) on the 16th. It appears that former representative Han, who left behind the words “I will not give up” to his supporters, promptly took up political action through social media.
On this day, Representative Han posted a video on his Facebook page that was released through the media immediately after President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law on the 3rd, and wrote, “This is the position I made five times on social media as the representative of the People Power Party immediately after the declaration of martial law.”
He said, “The President’s declaration of martial law is wrong. “We will stop it together with the people.” “We will immediately demand the lifting of martial law at the National Assembly level.” “The military is entering the National Assembly.” I will tell the military and police.“We must never sympathize with and collaborate with unconstitutional martial law.” “The National Assembly has resolved a bill to lift martial law. Martial law has reached the end of its practical effect, so from this moment on, all state agencies that exercise physical force, including the military and police of the Republic of Korea, have an obligation not to follow illegal or unjust instructions. “The President respects the will of the people and the national Assembly and immediately enacts the Constitution. He sequentially wrote his position on martial law, which he had previously posted, such as “Please declare the lifting of martial law.”
After the press conference to announce his resignation, former representative han met with supporters, clenched his fists and said, “I am not giving up.” It has been interpreted that even if he resigns as party leader, it dose not mean he is leaving politics, and that he is hinting at the possibility of running in the presidential election if President Yoon’s impeachment is upheld by the Constitutional Court.
Representative Lee Jun-seok of the New Reform Party, who was the leader of the People Power Party, said, “If former leader Han continues to pursue politics and pursue his path, I think we might meet one day.”
Rep. Lee said on Facebook that day, “I feel a sense of déjà vu as I watch former Representative Han’s retirement,” and added, “although the method was different from mine, I highly value his efforts to solve the problem while feeling a similar awareness of the problem in his own way.” Rep. Lee was elected as the representative of the People Power Party
Rep. Lee said, “The evaluations and advice I gave to former CEO Han Dong-hoon so far were given with sincerity. He added, “I deeply sympathize with former CEO Han Dong-hoon’s last words, saying that he hopes for the best for the Republic of Korea,” adding, “Because I have experienced it all, I hoped that it would not happen in the same way.”
