The journalist and former editor-in-chief of Le Temps Pierre Veya died on Saturday at the age of 63. The resident of Jura, retired since last June, had just launched a new online media dedicated to the ecological and energy transition.
Le Temps, of which Pierre Veya was editor-in-chief between 2010 and 2015, pays him a lively tribute in its Monday edition. “Pierre Veya (…) had a great impact on the media landscape of French-speaking Switzerland”, we can read in the daily, which also notes his humanitarian character and his ability to understand nuances.
Pierre Veya was born in Saint-Brais (JU), worked in particular at Démocrate, L’Impartial, L’Hebdo and l’Agefi, where he was editor-in-chief between 2000 and 2004. He then joined Le Temps , first as deputy editor and then as editor-in-chief. He moved to Le Matin Dimanche and took over the economic section of Tamedia Suisse romande until his retirement.
Pierre Veya was a specialist in energy and environmental matters. He also dedicated SwissPowerShift.ch, the new digital platform he had just created with Olivier Wurlod, to these themes.
