Lee Jin-woo, commander of the Capital Defense Command (Lieutenant General), who is suspected of sending troops into the National Assembly during the December 3 martial law emergency, was arrested on the 16th.

The Prosecution’s Emergency Martial Law Special Investigation Headquarters (Director Park Se-hyun, Chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office) announced on this day that an arrest warrant had been issued for Commander Lee, who is suspected of engaging in important civil war missions and abusing his power. Commander Lee is a key commander of the martial law forces who, along with Commander of the Armed Forces Counterintelligence Command Yeo Yeo-hyeong and Commander of the Army Special Operations Command Kwak Jong-geun, deployed subordinate forces to the National Assembly building and attempted to enter the main building when President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law on the 3rd.

Commander Lee, following the instructions of former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, deployed about 200 troops, including the 35th Special Mission Battalion of the 1st Security Group and the Military Police Corps, to the National Assembly. Subangsa is also a place where suspicions have been raised that an arrest team belonging to the Counterintelligence Agency attempted to arrest members of the National Assembly and imprison them in the Subangsa B1 bunker.

Commander Kwak was also arrested on the same day on the same day. As a result, the prosecution was able to secure new recruits for all the heads of the three core martial law commands (Counterintelligence Command, Capital Defense Command, and Special Operations Command).
