A new updated “Do Not Disturb 3.0” (DND 3.0) app will soon be launched by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI. As the name suggests, the new app will protect you from spam calls and messages. Many useful features will be added to this app to improve the user experience, so that users do not have to face unwanted calls and messages. Let us tell you that the effort to stop spam calls has been going on for a long time. This is the reason why TRAI is bringing a new app to stop this.
When will TRAI’s new app be launched?
No date has been fixed for the launch of TRAI’s new updated DND app. But according to TRAI Chairman AK Lahoti, there are plans to launch the app in two months. Meaning, if all things happen as per schedule, then the app can be launched in February-March of 2025 next year.
What will be the benefits?
- With the help of DND app, you will be able to register complaint about spam calls and messages.
- The DND feature lets you mute calls, notifications, and alerts for phones, mobile devices, and chats. In DND mode, incoming voice calls, visual alerts, and message vibrations on the phone are muted.
- DND mode works whether the phone is locked or unlocked.
How will you be able to use it?
TRAI’s clarification on OTP issue, Jio, Airtel, Voda and BSNL should not worry It will be very easy to use. To use this app, you will have to go through the registration process. The potential spam call report will then go to the service provider, who in turn will take action to block such callers. It is being claimed that the updated DND app can block spam calls. With the help of this app, users can issue flags regarding spam calls. You can also complain. However, the service provider will have the right to block those calls.
The app was launched in the year 2016
This app was launched in the year 2016. Then some updates were given in the app by TRAI. But mobile users did not like the app much. However, once again TRAI has announced to give an update. TRAI has blocked about 800 entities for spam calls. Also, 1.8 million mobile numbers and telecom sources have been closed.
New number series for telemarketing
TRAI has started new 140 series for telemarketing. According to the report, about 1.5-1.7 billion commercial messages are sent every day in India, whose monthly data is on an average 55 billion.
