The President of the United States, Joe Biden, promised this Monday, during an event at the White House to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, that he will not stop until he obtains the release of all the Hamas hostages in the Gaza Strip.

“I have taken more than 100 hostages and I will not stop until they all come home,” the president declared, sparking a standing ovation from the audience, including representatives of the US Jewish community.

Biden, who will succeed Donald Trump on January 20, has vindicated the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon agreed last month between Israel and Hezbollah with the mediation of the United States.

“I have said several times that my commitment to the security of the Jewish people and to Israel’s right to exist as an independent national state remains ironclad”, underlined the president, who declared himself a “Zionist”.

In recent months, the Biden administration has tried unsuccessfully to convince Israel and Hamas to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza in exchange for the release of the hostages.

Trump has promised to put Hamas through hell if it doesn’t release the American hostages before he takes office on January 20.
