‘White Christmas (with V of BTS)’ ranked 93rd
V (Kim Tae-hyung) of the global super group ‘BTS’ entered the US Billboard main single chart ‘Hot 100’ with a carol.
According to the chart preview posted by Billboard on social media on the 17th, the carol ‘White Christmas (with V of BTS)’ by V and American pop culture icon singer and actor Bing Crosby was released on the 21st. Ranked 93rd on ‘Hot 100’.
It has been on the chart for two weeks, following last week’s duet song with Park Hyo-shin, ‘Winter Ahead (with PARK HYO SHIN)’, which entered the chart at No. 99.
As a member of BTS, V has already entered the chart several times as a team, including placing six songs at the top of the ‘Hot 100’. This is the sixth time he has entered the ‘Hot 100’ as a solo artist.
The year before last, V ranked 79th on the ‘Hot 100’ with the OST ‘Christmas Tree’ of the SBS TV drama ‘That Year We Were’. The pre-released song ‘Love Me Again’ from last year’s first solo album ‘Layover’ ranked 96th, and the title song ‘Slow Dancing’ ranked 51st. ‘Friends (FRI(END)S)’, released in March of this year, ranked 65th.
In particular, three songs were placed on this chart this year alone. Big Hit Music, his agency, said that V’s potential is revealed in the fact that he achieved this achievement without any official activities due to his military service period.
In addition, it is noteworthy that V received attention even amidst the strength of traditional carols, with American pop star Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ returning to first place.
Of course, ‘White Christmas’ is also a classic, but this version evokes newness with the addition of V’s voice. Some of Crosby’s famous songs, which were released in 1942 and are still loved worldwide, were reinterpreted and sung in V’s own style. The warm baritone voices of the two people harmonized well.
