BRONZOLO. For the construction works of the Bronzolo ring road, more precise investigations of the subsoil are necessary, since the material is very complex. “To obtain precise data, a ground penetrating radar will be used, which will provide us with information on the composition of the subsoil up to 15 meters deep”, says Davide Maniezzo, director of the Central/Southern Roads Technical Office.

In order to install the equipment and obtain good measurement results, there must be no vibrations, explains Maniezzo. For this reason, the Brenner state road (SS12) in Bronzolo will be closed to traffic during the investigations on the night between Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December, from 9pm to 6am. Vehicles will be diverted through the center of the town.

The inhabitants of the Raif area, on the upstream side of the Brenner state road, have already been informed by the Municipality of Bronzolo that the area will not be reachable by vehicle from 11pm to 5am.

The construction of the 1.9 kilometer long Bronzolo ring road, with a 702 meter tunnel (of which 640 meters with the traditional excavation technique and 60 meters in open construction) and new access roads, began in March 2023.

“The Bronzolo ring road should bring fewer cars into the town and improve the quality of life for the inhabitants”, underlines the provincial councilor for Mobility Daniel Alfreider. The new infrastructure, together with the ring roads of Ora, Pineta and Laives, will make traffic on the Brenner state road safer and more fluid, avoiding residential areas, says Alfreider. Pedestrian and cycle paths will be built in place of the old road.
