NBA legend Kevin Durant opposes the new All Star Game formula. The Phoenix Suns basketball player told the local press that he wants to return to the historic East-West duel.
The NBA announced in recent days the establishment of a new system that will bring together four teams around games played to 40 points. A measure in force from the next edition of February 16, 2025 in San Francisco.
“I hate it. I really hate it. Horrible. (…) All these formats have been horrible in my opinion. We should go back to East-West, one game. (…) I think it should remain traditional,” he declares the 36-year-old icon.
“You never know, maybe I’m wrong. »
In 2018, the East-West format was abandoned in favor of a captain’s draft system to form teams. “We should maintain traditions. But hey, we’ll see how it works,” added the star who has a total of 14 All-Star Game appearances, including two MVP titles. “You never know, maybe I’m wrong.”

Former stars Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will be responsible for making three of the four teams in this new format. The last training session will honor the winner of the Rising Stars Challenge, a “preliminary” tournament for young players of the NBA and the G-League, the development league.
