This is a six-year-old 737 model aircraft. We emphasize that this is not a Boeing Max 737-8 model, which was involved in two fatal accidents that led to the grounding of all aircraft from the model for about two years. A few months ago the planes resumed operations.
The first accident occurred in October 2018, when a Leon Air flight taking off from Jakarta for Fangkal-Pinag (domestic flight in Indonesia) crashed shortly after taking off. 181 passengers and 8 crew members perished in the accident.
Half a year later, in March 2019, an Ethiopian Airlines Max 737-8 plane crashed with the same emphasis, minutes after taking off from Addis Ababa on its way to Nairobi – all 149 passengers and 8 crew members perished. The fatal accidents led to a federal investigation that revealed scandalous conduct at Boeing. The company was required to pay $ 2.5 billion under a settlement.
