Officially, authorities of USA announced that a patient in Louisiana was diagnosed as the first serious case of avian flu in humans, as reported by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“A patient has been hospitalized with a severe case of AH5N1 avian influenza virus infection (“H5N1 bird flu”) in Louisiana. This marks the first case of serious illness related to the virus in the United States,” the health agency said in a statement.

According to the information, this case of bird flu was confirmed by Disease Control last December 13in addition to detailing that since April 2024, a total of 61 human cases of AH5N1 avian influenza have been reported in the United States.
Regarding the causes that led to this contagion, Disease Prevention detailed that the virus belongs to the D1.1 genotype, in addition to the fact that the patient was exposed to sick and dead birds in various pens, despite this, an investigation is ongoing in the area of possible contagion.
Finally, so far it has not been detected no spread of H5 bird flu from person to person or any other infected person who has had contact with the aforementioned patient.
