Today, Friday, the Greater Benghazi Security Directorate announced the seizure of a network responsible for manufacturing and selling alcohol that led to deaths and serious injuries in the city of Benghazi.
According to a report from the Directorate, the Criminal Investigation Department, affiliated with the Greater Benghazi Security Directorate, was able to arrest the network responsible for distributing and manufacturing alcohol with materials that are criminally and internationally prohibited, which caused a humanitarian disaster, leading to the death of 16 people, and the injury of 17 others to serious cases of alcohol poisoning. In addition, 4 people lost their sight completely.
Investigations revealed that these wines contain dangerous alcoholic substances known as “ethesin,” which is a type of “etholene,” and that they were sold to liquor makers and promoters illegally in several areas within the city of Benghazi. It turned out that the main accused in the case is called “Dr. A,” was the primary supplier of these materials.
Investigations also confirmed that the main accused distributed quantities of these alcohols to other people, namely “J. H and A. H” nicknamed “Al” and “A”, and investigations indicated that the quantities sold directly caused cases of poisoning and deaths.
The main defendants who confessed to their involvement in the manufacture and distribution of these poisoned liquor were arrested, and the one who supplied the medical materials that were put in these liquor, who is one of the owners of pharmaceutical companies called “D.A.”, was also arrested.
The investigations resulted in the arrest of the entire network, and they will be referred to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal measures against them.
The Greater Benghazi Security Directorate noted that a video will be published showing the confessions of all those involved in this incident.
