BOLZANO. Plays of light, music, dance and a great desire to look to the future with optimism. This is the Municipality’s promise for the New Year’s Eve celebration on December 31st. Perhaps the last one in Piazza Vittoria for at least a couple of years, if the underground car park works continues according to plan. The slogan of the event is «Welcome to the future», with the promise of «a party of absolute quality, with an artistic proposal that caters to all age groups», underlines councilor Juri Andriollo. The declared objective is to bring 4-5 thousand people to the streets. The Municipality gave up the afternoon pre-party which «last year – Andriollo admits – didn’t work, because the flow we expected from the BoClassic didn’t arrive, thanks to the rain».
The artistic proposal
The artistic director is 27-year-old Fabio Cappello, from the Imagink company. Regarding the slogan (underlined by the “error” on the flyers, where the year 2025 becomes “3025”) he explains: «Together we will take a journey into today’s concept of the future but also into what we had in the sixties and seventies». Optimism, fascination, rediscovery are the ingredients of the evening. Matteo Graziosi and Federica Mazzoleni will present. Lux Arcana will also entertain the public with performances that combine contemporary dance, martial arts and LED juggling.
Departure at 9pm, therefore, with Skanka Nancy, a band active for over ten years and led by Nancy Travaglini, with a repertoire that ranges from blues, reggae, pop, rock and great Italian classics, in a mix of tradition and modernity. Followed at 10.30pm by Hush Puppies, a historic band from Bolzano with a style that mixes funk-rock, pop-blues and acid jazz with the energy of Enrico De Bertolini, Mirko Frego and Vitor Santos. At 11.55pm the light, audio and laser show and the countdown which will culminate in a visual and audio fireworks display. And five minutes after midnight, the performance of Dj Leeo from Bolzano, a 23-year-old DJ and vocalist who will range across different genres, will begin. There will be dancing until 2. For those who cannot be there, Radio Nbc and Südtirol 1 will broadcast live on radio «to give prestige and visibility to this beautiful party, allowing it to be reached by a large audience», so Caterina Foti and Horst Pichler. Four LED giant screens for a total of 38 square meters will guarantee visibility throughout the square.
Traffic and safety
Total cost, 107 thousand euros. Carlo Alberto Librera from the Community Services Division, Patrizia Caleffi from the School and Leisure Office and Letizia Monastero from the Mobility Office illustrate the measures for traffic and safety. There will be five gates (in Corso Libertà at the Cappelli bookshop and at the entrance to the roundabout, in Via Orazio, in Via Cesare Battisti in front of the supermarket and another at the victory monument). Checks of backpacks and bags are foreseen: it is forbidden to introduce objects such as glass bottles, firecrackers and umbrellas with tips. 45 security personnel will support the police. Like last year, there will be a ban on the serving of alcohol above 21 degrees and on the introduction of glass into the square. There will be two drinks kiosks, waste collection points, 20 chemical toilets and two more for disabled people.
The square will be closed to traffic from January 30th, while Corso Libertà and Via Cesare Battisti will be closed from 4pm on December 31st. SM
