Yangpyeong-gun is strengthening measures to prevent freezing of water supply facilities during the winter. Yangpyeong-gun (Governor Jeon Jeon-seon) has established and is implementing a comprehensive plan to prevent water supply freezes and bursts in the winter and strengthen recovery capabilities.

The county is preparing to prevent inconveniences in the use of tap water by residents due to freezing and bursting of local water supply facilities, and to ensure that there is no disruption in the supply of clear and clean tap water, from the 15th of last month to the 13th of this month, major local water supply facilities such as water purification plants, drainage basins, pressurization plants, pipes, and valves will be inspected. After completing a preliminary inspection, we identified vulnerable parts that could cause freezing or rupture, and completed repair work.

In addition, to prevent freezing accidents and speed up recovery during the winter season, the situation room is organized into three divisions – the general team, situation handling team, and emergency recovery team – to respond flexibly and proactively to freezing accidents. We also distribute freeze prevention notices using water meter readers. Preparing for freezes by conducting in-house broadcasting in apartment complexes, disseminating freeze prevention situations through the Nuri Communication Network (SNS), promoting heads of each village at vulnerable points to freezes, and providing freeze prevention packs. Preventative measures are continuously being implemented.

An official from the waterworks office said, “We ask you to use old clothes or freeze-damage prevention packs provided by the waterworks office to prevent freezing and damage to meter boxes, etc.” and “To minimize damage to citizens due to freezing during the winter, based on this winter’s winter freeze-and-rupture plan. “We will analyze the results and actively reflect them in next year’s winter freeze-and-break plan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Yangpyeong-gun held a 2025 Red Cross special membership dues delivery ceremony at the governor’s office on the 19th, with the attendance of County Governor Jeon Jeon-seon, Korean Red Cross Society Gyeonggi-do Governor Chairman Lee Jae-jeong, Korean Red Cross Gyeonggi-do Governor Yangpyeong District Council Senior Vice President Choi Jeong-sook and members.

This special dues delivery ceremony was the second following the special membership dues delivery ceremony held in January, and County Governor Jeon Jeon-seon delivered ‘1 million won in special dues’ on behalf of Yangpyeong-gun to the Gyeonggi Province Governor of the Korean Red Cross (Chairman Lee Jae-jeong).

With this delivery ceremony, Yangpyeong-gun’s accumulated donation amount exceeded 10 million won, and it was awarded the ‘Red Cross Member Oil Factory Medal of Honor’ by the Korean Red Cross.

County Governor Jeon Jeon-seon said, “I express my deep gratitude to the Korean Red Cross for their hard work in distributing warmth to vulnerable groups in the community during the cold winter.” He added, “Whenever difficult situations arise in the county, they are a great help to the residents through free sacrifice and service.” “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the members of the Yangpyeong County Red Cross.”

The Korean Red Cross is carrying out a campaign to raise Red Cross membership fees for 2025 starting December 1, 2024.
