jpnn.com – There were a number of excuses issued by Shin Tae Yong after the Indonesian National Team lost in the group phase of the 2024 AFF Cup.

The Garuda squad failed to continue its struggle in the football tournament between Southeast Asian countries after losing 0-1 to the Philippines, Saturday (21/12/2024) evening WIB.

This result is considered disappointing, especially as Indonesia acts as host at the Manahan Stadium, Solo.

The support of thousands of supporters was not enough for Indonesia to defeat The Azkals -the nickname of the Philippine National Team-.

This defeat left Indonesia stuck in third place in Group B with four points.

On the other hand, the Philippines has the right to go to the semifinals of the 2024 AFF Cup accompanying Vietnam, who are group winners.

After the match, Indonesian National Team Coach Shin Tae Yong said that it was not easy for his team, which was mostly made up of young players, to face the senior squad in the AFF Cup.

Indonesia is home to a majority of players under 22 years of age. Practically, there are only a few senior names, namely Asnawi Mangkualam (25 years) and Pratama Arhan (23 years).
