This remarkable growth reflects a positive dynamic which is strengthening, and concerns both foreign tourists, up 15%, and Moroccans living abroad (MRE), up 20%, indicates the ministry in a press release.

Over the first four months of 2024, Morocco therefore recorded 4.6 million arrivals at border posts, an increase of 14% compared to the end of April 2023, which represents 567,000 additional arrivals, specifies the same source.

Foreign tourist arrivals were a major driver of this growth, increasing by 15% compared to the end of April 2023, or around 340,000 additional foreign tourists. They represented 56% of total arrivals, an increase of one point compared to the previous year.

“These exceptional results pave the way for promising prospects for the 2024 summer season and for the whole year. The programs in our roadmap, the mobilization of all stakeholders, as well as our synergy with professionals continue to bear fruit”, said the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the press release.

And to support: “We are staying the course and continuing to implement the regional and national programs of the roadmap, which should allow us to welcome 15.5 million tourists by the end of 2024.”
