Boryeong City Agricultural Technology Center has begun to realize sustainable agriculture by supplying soil amendments. The Boryeong City Agricultural Technology Center announced that it will supply 4,320 tons of soil conditioner to improve acidic soil in 2025.
The soil conditioner is composed of silicic acid, lime kaolin, and shelled fossils, and plays a role in maintaining and preserving soil strength by increasing the effective silicic acid content of the soil.
Supply is carried out once every three years, and the supply area in 2025 is Nampo-myeon, Daecheon 1-dong, Daecheon 2-dong, Daecheon 3-dong, Daecheon 4-dong, and Daecheon 5-dong to solve the problems of aging in rural areas, female farmers, and labor shortages. For this purpose, we plan to jointly spray the soil conditioner after deliberation by the joint spraying operation committee.
The application deadline is until February 20, 2025, and farmers registered as agricultural businesses can apply at the administrative welfare center of the town, township, or dong where the farmland is located.
Oh Je-eun, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We will solve the problem of neglect of soil improvement agents through joint spraying of soil improvement agents and increase the soil improvement effect by spraying them in the right places. He said, “I urge you to apply.”
The soil conditioner supply cycle is scheduled to be supplied in the following order: △Jupo-myeon, △Jugyo-myeon, △Ocheon-myeon, △Cheonbuk-myeon, △Cheongso-myeon, and △Cheongramen in 2026, and in 2027, △Ungcheon-eup, △Jusan-myeon, △Misan-myeon, and △Seongju-myeon.
Meanwhile, the problem of population decline is becoming a major obstacle not only to local economic growth in many regions, but also to the overall economic growth of our country. In particular, as the concentration of companies in large cities intensifies, the phenomenon of young people moving out of local areas who cannot find jobs in small and medium-sized local cities is accelerating.
Accordingly, Boryeong City has prepared various support measures to help young people actively participate in the local economy to solve the problem of youth job shortage and job mismatch, and these efforts are showing results recently.
Lee Ji-seon, CEO of Terabeny, who participated in Boryeong City’s youth entrepreneurship support project in 2024 and created a cultural complex in downtown Boryeong, is from Daejeon and was initially preparing to start a business in Daejeon. The reason was that there would be more support in large cities for starting a complex cultural space.
However, after accidentally coming across an announcement in Boryeong City, I inquired with the relevant department and was attracted to the fact that I could receive systematic startup education and consulting, as well as the highest level of startup support among local governments, so I moved from Daejeon to Boryeong.
Representative Lee said, “In the process of preparing to start a business, I was at a loss as to what to do first, but it was nice to be able to pivot the plan I had originally made and clarify the business model while receiving entrepreneurship training.” He added, “The city is not just a one-time thing. “I think we were able to establish ourselves quickly thanks to continued interest and support,” he said.
He then gave his recommendation, saying, “If there is someone around you who wants to start a business, be sure to give it a try in Boryeong.”
Boryeong City has supported 99 start-ups over the past five years, creating a total of 131 new jobs, resulting in significant employment creation.
Additionally, while the nationwide business closure rate within 5 years of starting a business is 71.7%, the business closure rate in Boryeong City is only 12.1%.
This proves that Boryeong City’s start-up support project goes beyond simple support, increases the sustainability of companies, and is positioned as a central axis of revitalizing the local economy.
The city plans to continue to create a virtuous cycle of startups and economic growth through customized support tailored to regional characteristics.
