Founded in 2013 in Silicon Valley and funded by American venture capital giants, Zipline is now present in nine countries.
In the same context, the Moroccan delegation met with Bassam El Fahmawi, CEO of Mawi DNA Technologies, at the origin of the so-called iSWAB technology, an innovative system for collecting biological samples. This new technology allows the integrity of samples from different regions of the world to be maintained at room temperature.
In a statement to the press on this occasion, the CEO of the company based in the suburbs of San Francisco, indicated that his company, which has a factory in Morocco through the company Biotessia, aspires to strengthen its presence in the Kingdom to open up more to a promising African market.
“Morocco is a nerve center and our gateway to Africa, a growing market,” he underlined, expressing the wish to strengthen this partnership, especially since Morocco stands out by a favorable investment climate and represents an economic hub in the region, thanks to the far-sighted vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
For his part, the general director of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Investments and Exports (AMDIE), Ali Seddiki, indicated that the Moroccan economic delegation met technological companies with high added value, to consolidate Morocco’s place as innovation hub “in line with the project that His Majesty King Mohammed VI is drawing up for the Kingdom”.
