The meeting was thus an opportunity to present to Moroccans living abroad (MRE) from the Oriental the potential and assets enjoyed by this region of the Kingdom, the facilitations granted to MRE in terms of investment, and inform the expectations of Moroccans around the world, called to support the development process of their region through the creation of wealth and jobs.
This ceremony was marked by the organization at the headquarters of the wilaya of stands by a number of public institutions and administrations concerned by MRE issues, in order to listen to them and provide them with answers and explanations concerning their various questions.
The emphasis was placed on this occasion on all-out mobilization at the service of members of the Moroccan community residing abroad, with a view to guiding them and helping them to overcome the difficulties and problems they may encounter, and, in general, look after their interests, in accordance with royal instructions.
In a speech read on his behalf by the secretary general of the wilaya, the wali of the region, governor of the prefecture of Oujda-Angad, Mouad El Jamai highlighted the particular interest accorded by HM King Mohammed VI to the Moroccan community abroad, recalling the royal speech on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People, in which the Sovereign called on young people and bearers of Moroccan projects, residing abroad, to take advantage of the multiple investment opportunities offered by the motherland, to make the most of the incentive measures and guarantees provided by the new Investment Charter.
Through the celebration of National Migrant Day, established by HM King Mohammed VI in 2023, he added, Morocco pays tribute to the laudable services and efforts deployed by MREs in supporting the process of economic development and social status of the country.
Mr. El Jamai noted that this initiative is also an opportunity to examine the various files relating to the situation of Moroccan nationals abroad, whether in their host country or in the motherland.
He noted in this sense that the wilaya of the Oriental region, in concert with all the territorial and international actors and partners, was keen to deploy the necessary efforts in order to put all circumstances at the service of welcoming and the orientation of Moroccans around the world and to involve them in the management of local affairs, taking into account the important and effective role played by members of the Moroccan diaspora, whether through its defense of the sacred values of the homeland or through its investments and contributions to the country’s economy.
He also invited MREs to seize the numerous opportunities and the multiple investment facilities offered by the Oriental region and to contribute to the dynamic of sustainable and integrated development that it has experienced since the launch of the Royal Oriental Development Initiative.
In a statement to MAP, the director of the economic impulse and territorial offer pole at the Regional Investment Center (CRI de l’Oriental), Rachid Rami, indicated that this meeting is being used by those in charge of the Center to learn about close to the expectations of MREs in the region and to provide the necessary information to those carrying ideas or investment projects, especially since the theme chosen this year for the celebration of National Migrants’ Day is focused on the theme “investments of MRE: opportunities and perspectives”.
According to him, the meeting was an opportunity to expose the territorial potential, the promising sectors and the high-level infrastructure available to this region, in particular the industrial zones and the major Nador West Med port project, as well as the provisions of the New Investment Charter which represents a major initiative to boost private investment in the country.
Mr. Rami said that this Day was also marked by the launch, by the CRI in partnership with the wilaya and the Council of the Oriental Region, of a platform with the objectives of highlighting the potential and investment opportunities in the region, to create interaction with members of the diaspora to find out their interests and the contribution they can make to support the development of the region in various fields (economic, social, sporting , cultural, health, etc.), in in addition to the presentation of the various events and demonstrations scheduled in the region.
