In his greeting, he reminds us that Christmas is usually a time to wish for a peaceful holiday.
“Where do we find peace in these troubled and anxious times? What does it take to get that peace?” asks Stankiewicz.
He also emphasizes that the 34th psalm contains a prescription for what must be done to find this peace – to turn away from evil and do good.
“How can we distinguish between good and evil? What are the criteria of good and evil? The three wise men of the East responded to the voice of their hearts and went in search of the newborn King of the Jews. There is a voice in the depths of the human heart that helps to distinguish good from evil and invites you to go on a journey, realizing the great goal of your life mission,” assured the archbishop.
He believes that every person has talents and abilities.
“When God creates a person in the mother’s body, he gives each of us a vocation in life and equips us with everything so that we can fulfill it. When a person responds to this vocation, his talents are fully revealed and developed,” says Stankevičs in his holiday greeting.
He also writes that “a person then feels needed, he has a sense of meaning in everything he does.” In this sense, to avoid evil and to do good means to be faithful to the highest calling, the mission of one’s life.
“The event of Christmas helps us discover this calling. I wish you faithfulness to the mission you came to this world to fulfill,” Stankevich wishes for a bright and peaceful Christmas.
